It’s literally the end of January, but.. As another year comes to a close, I can’t help but reflect on all the little (and big) moments that made this last year memorable. It wasn’t perfect – because let’s be real, what year ever is? – but it was full of lessons learned, new favorites discovered, and moments that reminded me to slow down and soak it all in. Here’s a look back at some of my highlights from the year!
Favorite Finds
This year, I stumbled upon a few gems that made life easier, more enjoyable, and just a little bit more comfortable. For reference, I had a baby in September and live in the desert. So, just imagine 120 degrees in the dry desert at the peak of my pregnancy….
- This dress from Amazon was so beautiful for my baby shower! It’s non-maternity but fits the bump comfortably. The material is light and airy and perfect for a casual spring/summer day. https://amzn.to/4aJddXb
- If you are anything like me, your summer mom-iform is biker shorts and t-shirts. Well, to all my moms-to-be finding out this month that they are expecting (I found out I was pregnant with my September baby this month last year), these biker shorts will be the greatest thing you put on your body once the weather warms up! Buttery soft, full over-the-bump coverage, and the perfect length for everyday wear! When I tell you I lived in these, I literally purchased a pair for everyday of the week! https://amzn.to/4hrNqF4
Unforgettable Moments
Life may feel like a blur sometimes, but there were a few moments that truly stood out:
- Our oldest baby started kindergarten! Time is a thief and I cannot believe we’re already at this milestone.
- Like I previously mentioned, we welcomed our beautiful caboose in September and life has never been sweeter.
I often tell my husband when we’re old and gray and wishing we could go back in time, this is the time in our lives I’d want to return to. As chaotic as life is with young kids, I couldn’t dream of a better way to spend my days.
Lessons Learned
If this year taught me anything, it’s that growth often comes from the unexpected.
- Adjusting to life with 2 kids has really taught me how to prioritize my time and energy so each member of my family is getting the best version of me. I won’t lie, the first few weeks postpartum were ROUGH. But to my surprise (insert pure sarcasm), it didn’t last!
- A BIG lesson I learned this last year is that being a mom right now is enough. I was raised by a single, working mom and up until a few months ago I was a full-time working mama. I may not be contributing financially to my family, but being home and raising my kids is the biggest, best contribution I can be giving. My kids will grow and I will have plenty of time in the future to work and make money, but I will never get this time back with kids.
Looking Ahead
As much as I’ve loved reflecting on the past year, I’m also so excited for what’s ahead. My focus for the new year is to find balance, and I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes me.
What about you? What were your highlights from this past year? I’d love to hear about your favorite finds, moments, or lessons – let’s inspire each other as we move forward into a fresh new year!
